Share, comment and rank your Knowledge Management (KM) Definitions with us all

Over the next few weeks, we are rolling out a new collaborative website that will allow us all to publish, discuss, review, improve and rank knowledge management topics at www.knowledge-management-online.com.

Today, we launch the first collaborative feature, which is to invite you to share with us all, your definition(s), comments and ranking of knowledge management definitions.

'KM Definitions' is the most popular page on the website, and we are keen to help students, practitioners, consultants and organisations more easily understand, develop and further improve their own meaning and definition.

We will announce further features through this blog, as they become available, in the following days.

  1. Thanks for this post. I've seen this site before, is it really new or renewed? And why are you setting this site up when there's an extensive wikipedia entry on KM and KM defintions? Looking forward to read more of your posts.

  2. Hi Samuel

Thanks for this comment. I will try to answer your questions as best I can.

    1. You are right. The site will gradually be renewed, as opposed to being new, with more collaborative features to make it far more user centric.

2.Yes, the wikipedia entry on KM and KM definitions is indeed extensive, hence my inclusion of the wikipedia definition. But it is only one definition, and in my workshops on KM I find people are much happier to be given a wide range of differing KM definitions to better help them with their own KM definition formation. In other words, we prefer a more inclusive approach rather than one set definition.

    3. The site aims, eventually, to do far more than be a reference point for KM. It will shortly include a facility for KM practitioners to share their capabilities, KM competencies, interests and problems. It also aims to encourage KM practitioners to openly develop a continually improving set of KM consulting and education methods and tools. So I hope that, combined with using wikipedia and other good KM sites, that it will add even more value for the KM community.

Can anyone recommend the top Remote Management & Monitoring tool for a small IT service company like mine? Does anyone use Kaseya.com or GFI.com? How do they compare to these guys I found recently: N-able N-central change management
? What is your best take in cost vs performance among those three? I need a good advice please... Thanks in advance!
